Indian restaurant in Great Yarmouth

Even though I've lived in Great Yarmouth all my life, I've never been a great one for fish and chips. I only like it every once in a while whereas I've always got the curry cravings and last night I headed to the seafront Indian restaurant Planet Papadum for a nice night out with my partner Helen. We come to this place at least twice a month - it's one of our special little treats - and we've sampled loads of the dishes over the years and very rarely been let down. Our meal always starts with some poppadoms and pickles and a glass of the lovely house red wine, then we'll share a starter - normally an onion bhaji - before tucking into our delicious mains.

Dining in Great Yarmouth

Last night I opted for a lamb bilashi while Helen chose the coconut-flavoured chicken ceylon. Both dishes were absolutely packed with flavour and Helen's dish delivered quite a spicy kick; and the accompaniments (some pilau rice and a luscious bowl of fresh saag dal) went beautifully with the highly flavoursome mains. Service was polite and friendly, as always, and we were given a table in the window with a view looking out over Great Yarmouth seafront. And all-in-all, it was a very lovely evening at what is a hugely reliable and very welcoming Indian restaurant. One that's definitely worth a visit if you ever get bored with fish and chips and instead get the fancies for a hot and spicy curry during your holiday by the sea.
